How it works
Your phones, the Companion app on your computer and the dashboard: what each one does, and what happens when one of them stops.
AutoGrowth has three parts, and they work together.
| Part | Where it lives | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Your phones | On your desk or rack, plugged into a computer by USB | Run the real apps. Every tap happens here |
| The Companion | A desktop app on a Mac or Windows PC | Connects the phones to AutoGrowth, carries out the work and streams the screens |
| The dashboard | In your browser | Where you decide what happens: accounts, schedules, content, team |
You don't connect to Instagram's or TikTok's API, and nothing posts from a server. Every action is a real tap in the real app on a real phone, the same way a person would do it.
Each part in a bit more detail
The phones. You use iPhones, regular or jailbroken, or Android phones running GrapheneOS. A small helper app called the Agent lives on each phone and lets the Companion see the screen and tap it. The Companion installs the Agent for you.
The Companion. It's a desktop app you sign in to once. It finds every phone plugged into the computer, sets it up, and then does what the dashboard asks: it opens the app, scrolls, types and posts. A bigger fleet just uses more computers, each running its own Companion, and they all report to the same dashboard.
The dashboard. This is where your team works, from anywhere. Add your accounts, upload the photos and videos to post, schedule automations, and open any phone's live screen to control it by hand.
Keep the computer on
Phones that run through the Companion only work while the Companion is open. If the computer sleeps, the app is closed or the cable comes out, those phones go offline and their scheduled runs wait. A run that comes back online within about two hours still happens. After that it's skipped.
The rule is simple: leave the computer awake, the Companion open and the phones plugged in. The Companion keeps the computer from going to sleep while phones are working.
Running at scale? Use a desktop Mac or PC that's always on rather than a laptop, and use powered USB hubs once you're past a handful of phones. The setup guides cover the hardware in detail.
Phones that don't need a computer
DoritoX and DoritoY phones can also work on their own, with no computer. Once set up, the phone connects to AutoGrowth over its own internet connection, and you manage its containers, proxies and identity from the dashboard. (A DoritoY phone needs the Companion once, to install the app.)
A phone like that can't be watched live or run automations, because those need the Companion. Plug it into a computer running the Companion and add Phone Control (and Automations), and it gets both on top of what it already does.
